Hello Out There!

Today is Saturday around 10:30 am and I’m so excited to start my new blog.  Have no idea what I’ll write about though!  It’s been years since I’ve blogged but I always enjoy it.  Here, I’ll post pictures of some of the day’s work...my thoughts....random thoughts...and it’s here that you’ll realize I’m probably not all the way sane.  But who is, right?

What I do know is that I enjoy helping people to get their lives organized.  I remember when I first made the connection between organizing and achieving goals.  I was a freshman at duPont Manual  (Go Rams) and had to take a math class - I can’t even remember the exact name - that’s how bad I was in the class.

I felt so alone in the class - it seemed like everyone else knew the material, raised their hands to answer questions.  Nothing I did seemed to work.  I sat in the front row, stayed for tutoring.  Nothing helped.  So one night I sat at home, looking at this homework.  And I reasoned with myself.  There had to be an answer...a solution...and how could I break down parts, pieces, rewind, step back and look at the entire picture to see how things appeared then.

So I did that.  Besides, if I didn’t know the material, at least I would organize my notes, make index cards and become the most organized student in that class.  Maybe the teacher would take pity on me, become impressed, and give me some kind of passing grade for effort.

But something else happened actually.  Once I broke things down, took my time to comprehend, tackled the subject piece by piece, I actually started to understand it better!  What do you know!?

When you declutter and organize, amazing doors open up for you.  What areas of your life, either mentally or physically, could you clean up and declutter?  I’d love to hear in the comments below.

I like this blog! It made me reminisce to my Junior High days in Latin I class! My Latin teacher gave the class an assignment during the first week that helped me throughout that year, during high school and into college!!

Our Latin I teacher asked us to use 3X5 index cards to learn our first week of Latin vocabulary.... we wrote Latin words on one side and the English word on the other. I used theses flash cards and made new ones every week that year!!

This learning technique was applied to Latin II in high school as well as my Spanish I and Spanish II classes. In college, I tried this technique any time I had a large number of vocabulary words! Flash cards became my learning technique throughout my learning career!!
